What is an italic text generator?
Most social apps do not give you an italic button in the bio or caption field — those boxes only accept plain text. This generator gets around that by swapping your letters for the Mathematical Sans-Serif Italic characters in Unicode. They are real, separate characters that simply look slanted, so any platform that accepts text will accept them, no formatting toolbar required.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text in the box above.
- Choose Italic or Bold Italic.
- Press Copy result and paste it into your bio, post or message.
Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type ever leaves your device.
Where italic text works well
- Bios and profiles on Instagram, TikTok, X and LinkedIn.
- Quotes and emphasis inside captions and comments.
- Titles of works — books, films and albums are conventionally italicized.
A note on readability
Because these are Unicode math symbols rather than truly italic letters, screen readers may not announce them as expected and some search boxes will not match them. Use them for short flourishes rather than full paragraphs so your content stays accessible.
Frequently asked questions
- Will numbers convert to italic?
- The italic and bold-italic Unicode blocks do not define digits, so numbers stay in their normal style. Letters convert fully.
- Does this work on iPhone and Android?
- Yes — both render the Mathematical Italic block in modern system fonts, so the text displays correctly in almost every app.
- Is it really italic?
- Visually yes. Technically they are distinct slanted characters, which is exactly what lets them paste into plain-text fields.
